It's the residence permit issued to people granted refugee status under the Geneva Convention. It's valid for 5 years, renewable, and gives wide rights including work, family reunification, and access to social services.
It's the strongest international protection status in Italy. After 5 years of legal residence, holders can apply for the long-term EU permit.

Refugee permits are separate from subsidiary protection and special-protection permits. The rights and durations differ for each.
