Family Residence Permit

It's the family residence permit issued to non-EU relatives reunited with a sponsor through ricongiungimento, or to non-EU family members already in Italy on coesione familiare. It allows work, study, and access to social services.
Why it matters
It\'s the standard family permit for spouses, kids, and dependent parents brought in through the family route. After 5 years of legal residence, the holder can apply for the long-term EU permit.

"Once his wife and kids joined him in Bari from Casablanca, Hassan picked up their family permesso di soggiorno per motivi familiari at the Questura, valid for the same duration as his own work permit."
Common confusion
If the family bond breaks, options exist (autonomous conversion, victims\' protection), but each has its own conditions and timelines.
