Residence Certificate
Plain English
It's a one-page document from the anagrafe stating your current registered address. It\'s widely accepted as proof of residenza and is one of the most-requested certificates in Italy.
Why it matters
Banks, immigration offices, schools, and many others ask for it. Most are valid for 6 months from the date of issue, so don\'t order it too far in advance.
Real example
"To open a bank account in Vibo Valentia, Aminat downloaded her certificato di residenza for free through ANPR using her SPID. The branch accepted the PDF without any further step."
Common confusion
Since ANPR went live, you can usually get this online for free. Some comuni still issue paper versions with a small stamp duty (marca da bollo) attached.
