Transit Visa

It's a short-stay Schengen visa used for transit through the territory of one or more Schengen countries, usually for travellers crossing on land. It\'s different from the airport-only transit visa (VTA).
Why it matters
For travellers whose nationality requires a visa for short stays and who pass through Schengen on the way elsewhere, the transit visa keeps the trip legal.
Common confusion
Most travellers transiting by air don\'t need this. A normal Schengen short-stay visa is often enough, unless special transit rules apply.
