It's a re-entry visa issued to non-EU residents who lost their permesso or had it expire while abroad, and who need to come back to Italy to regularise their position. It\'s granted by the Italian consulate after specific checks.
Why it matters
Without it, returning to Italy after losing the permit while abroad can be impossible. It gives you a legal way back to file a new permit application or finalise paperwork.
