13th-Month Salary
Plain English
It's a 13th-month salary paid in December to most Italian employees. It\'s built up over the year and arrives just before the holidays, often as a separate line on the pay slip.
Why it matters
It\'s a real chunk of money for households planning gifts, travel, or year-end expenses. When you compare salary offers, including the tredicesima in the maths matters a lot.
Real example
"At her hotel job in Lipari, Stamatia counted on her tredicesima to cover her Christmas travel back home. It landed in her account on 14 December, right when she needed it."
Common confusion
It\'s built into the RAL, not on top of it. If your contract says RAL 26,000, that already includes the tredicesima distributed across 13 months.
