It's the employer's side of ending a contract: a dismissal. Italian law sets out narrow grounds (just cause, justified objective or subjective reason) and notice requirements. Many dismissals can be challenged in court.
A dismissal usually triggers your right to claim NASpI and your TFR. The reason given in writing matters for any future appeal and for unemployment benefits.
"After his factory shifted production, Adelmo was given a licenziamento for justified objective reasons in Caserta. His lawyer reviewed the letter, his TFR was paid out, and he registered for NASpI."
Even "just cause" dismissals can be contested. Strict deadlines apply for challenging the decision, so get legal advice fast.
