It's a special lease form designed for university students living away from home, lasting between 6 and 36 months. Rents follow canone concordato rules in many cities. Multiple students can sign as co-tenants.
It's the standard contract used in university cities and gives access to certain student-friendly tax benefits and easier early exits. Landlords get the same cedolare benefits as canone concordato.
"For his master's in Pisa, Sebastian signed a contratto per studenti universitari together with two flatmates. Each one was a co-tenant, with their share of the rent paid into the landlord's account."
Only enrolled students in a different province from their family's residenza usually qualify. The landlord may ask for an iscrizione certificate to prove it before signing.
