Out-of-Town Student Status
Plain English
It's the recognition that a university student lives away from their family\'s residence to study. To qualify, the student\'s residence (or a registered lease) must be in a different province from the family home, usually at least 100 km away.
Why it matters
Fuori sede status unlocks specific benefits in the DSU scholarship system, including subsidies for rent. It also affects tax detrazioni for student accommodation.
Real example
"For his bachelor in Macerata, Sebastian kept his residenza at his family's home but signed a registered student lease in town. The fuori sede status increased his DSU scholarship amount."
Common confusion
Each region\'s DSU agency may apply slightly different criteria. Check the specific rules of the agency where you\'re studying before you assume you qualify.
