Historical: This term has been replaced or significantly modified since 2022.
It was a monthly allowance paid to employees with dependent family members, calculated on family income and size. From 2022 it was replaced for most families by the Assegno Unico e Universale.
If you're reading old paperwork, contracts, or pay slips from before 2022, you'll still see ANF mentioned. For today's claims, AUU is the relevant benefit for children, and ANF only survives for very narrow situations.
Confusingly, the abbreviation ANF still appears on some HR systems and pay slips. For dependent kids under 21, the active benefit since 2022 is the AUU.
