Paid Holiday Leave
Plain English
It's your paid annual leave. By law you get at least 4 weeks a year, and most CCNLs add a bit on top. You accrue ferie month by month and can use them throughout the year, subject to manager approval.
Why it matters
Italians use ferie much more than just for summer. You\'ll see them mentioned every month on your pay slip as a counter going up (accrued) and down (used).
Real example
"By July, Bao had accrued 14 days of ferie at his job in Imola. He took 10 of them in August for a trip back to Hanoi, leaving the rest for the winter holidays."
Common confusion
Old ferie expire after a couple of years if you don\'t use them. Check your pay slip from time to time so you don\'t leave them on the table.
