Municipal IRPEF Surcharge
Plain English
It's an extra slice of income tax that your comune adds on top of national IRPEF. Each town sets its own rate (capped by law), so two cities can take noticeably different amounts. It comes out of your pay slip automatically if you\'re an employee.
Why it matters
It\'s a small but real difference in take-home pay between cities. If you move from a low-rate town to a high-rate one, you\'ll see a few euros disappear every month.
Real example
"When Stefan compared his net pay before moving from Bressanone to Reggio Emilia, the new addizionale comunale was higher by a fraction of a percent. Tiny on a pay slip, but real over the year."
